One by one
- 何さい（なん・さい） → how old
- です → is, am, are
- か → ?
Generally speaking, it is not polite to ask the age of people (especially woman’s age) in Japan, although people in Osaka often do not mind it.
何さいですか。 is a simple but very direct way to ask somebody’s age. Instead, people in Japan would say おいくつですか。 more often.
