One by one
- 弟(おとうと) → my younger brother
- は → no meaning
- 五才(ご・さい) → 5 years old
- のときに → when
- テニス → tennis
- を → no meaning
- 始めました(はじ・めました) → started
Note: のときに
のときに means ‘when’ and is used after a noun. Use ときに after a verb.
Example: noun のときに
- 五才のときに → when (the person was) 5 years old
- 中学一年生のときに → when (the person was) in Year 7
