Meaning
Both 思う(おもう)and 考える(かんがえる)mean ‘to think’. There are a few small differences between them.
- 思う:to think in general
- 考える:to think about something or someone logically and carefully. You may spend a lot of time on it.

思う
- 父はやさしいと思います。(I think my father is kind.)
- 日本はうつくしいと思います。(I think Japan is beautiful.)
- 母がケーキを食べたと思います。(I think my mother ate cakes.)
- かなしいですが、その鳥は死んでいると思います。(It’s sad, but I think the bird is dead.)
- これについてどう思いますか。(What do you think about this?)
考える
- どうしたいいかよく考えてください。(Please think carefully what you should do.)
- これについてどう考えますか。(What do you think about this?)
- こどものしょうらいを考えるのは大切です。(It is important to think about children’s future.)
