Introduction

The basic rule for how to say a date in Japanese is:

number + にち

Example

  • 15th → 十五にち(十五 is 15)
  • 21st → 二十一にち(二十一 is 21)

Note

There are exceptions which do not follow the rule above:

  • 1st to 10th (click here for details)
  • 20th is はつか
  • 14th is じゅうよっか
  • 24th is にじゅうよっか
