- How many Japanese alphabets exist?
There are three different alphabets in Japanese. They are Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. Hiragana has 46 basic symbols. so does Katakana. There are millions of Kanji symbols. Hiragana is used to write Japanese own words such as sushi, emoji, geisha, etc. Katakana is used to write words from other countries such as smartphone, taxi, supermarket, etc. Kanji is used to write most words in Hiragana.
