  • 我が家(わ・が・や/wa ga ya)means ‘my home’.

我が家(わ・が・や/wa ga ya)

我が means ‘my’, although you don’t usually use it in a conversation. It is used in writing more often and sounds older and more formal.

Ex:

  • 和が国(わ・が・こく/wa ga ko ku)means ‘my country’.
  • 我が息子(わ・が・むす・こ/wa ga mu su ko)means ‘my son’.

最強 ⇔ 最弱(さい・じゃく/sa i ja ku)means ‘the weakest’.

  • スクラム(su ku ra mu)means ‘scrum’.
  • 妻(つま/tsu ma)means ‘wife’.
  • 娘(むすめ/mu su me)means ‘daughter’.

What does this all mean?

The person who made this Senryu is a man who has his wife and daughter. He thinks that he can’t talk back to them because they are as firm as a rugby scrum.

He used the rugby term as Japan hosted Rugby World Cup in 2019.
