また
Use また if you want to say ‘Also’ at the start of an English sentence.
Also, I sometimes study Japanese.
また、私はときどき日本語を勉強します。
Also, I bought a car last week.
また、私は先週車を買いました。
も
Use も if you want to say ‘also’ in the middle of an English sentence.

も is placed after a noun.
There are also bad points.
わるい点もあります。
I am also Japanese.
私も日本人です。
If an English sentence can be translated into two Japanese sentences, you need to think about which noun you need ‘also’ for.
- I also speak Japanese.
With the sentence above,
you would like to say ‘(Not only my mother but also) I speak Japanese.’
then, 私も日本語を話します。is correct in Japanese.
Whereas, if you would like to say ‘I speak (not only English but also) Japanese.’
then, 私は日本語も話します。is correct in Japanese.
- My father is also good at tennis.
With the sentence above,
you would like to say ‘(Not only my mother but also) my father is good at tennis.’
then, 父もテニスが上手です。is correct in Japanese.
Whereas, if you would like to say ‘My father is good at (not only golf but also) tennis.’
then, 父はテニスも上手です。is correct in Japanese.
