Use 匹（ひき）to count small animals.
- 一頭（いっとう／i t to u）：one
- 二頭（にとう／ni to u）：two
- 三頭（さんとう／sa n to u）：three
- 四頭（よんとう／yo n to u）：four
- 五頭（ごとう／go to u）：five
- 六頭（ろっとう／ro t to u）：six
- 七頭（ななとう／na na to u）：seven
- 八頭（はっとう／ha t to u）：eight
- 九頭（きゅうとう／kyu u to u）：nine
- 十頭（じゅっとう／ju t to u）：ten
When you count, put whatever you count first, then the counter.
Example
- two elephants: ぞう二頭
- four bears: くま四頭
- eight whales: くじら八頭
